From Wall Street to C-Sweet (Chief of Sweets)
What does one do after retiring from a successful 30-year career in investment banking in New York City? If you're Linnea Conrad Roberts, you launch GingerBread Capital (GBC) to build and invest in women’s entrepreneurial success–and encourage other women to do the same. You become an active philanthropist with a focus on education and health, serving on the national board of directors for Teach for America and a member of the board of directors of New Leaders, a nonprofit devoted to developing transformational leaders in education. And you bake cakes! Growing up, the go-to cake in the Conrad family was always Ginger's famous Chocolate Cake. Linnea's mom, Ginger passed the recipe on to Linnea who baked this cake for many years, until "retirement' afforded her more time in the kitchen to experiment beyond Ginger's chocolate cake. Linnea approached cake baking with the same zeal and focus she has devoted to every other successful venture in her life. And the results are amazing...beautiful, imaginative, whimsical, and best of all, delicious! We have started this site to share just a little about our dear friend and her creations. We hope she will continue to add photos of new cakes and maybe a bit of the stories behind them. Happy Birthday, Linnea, our favorite Chief of Sweets! |
